On August 12 at 1:37 PM Eastern, we experience a New Moon and Total Solar Eclipse at 20° Leo, arriving on the final day of the Lions Gate portal and creating a powerful culmination to this energetic window.
And before we move into the astrology and energetics, I always love understanding what is actually happening in the sky.
A solar eclipse occurs at a New Moon when the Sun, Moon and Earth come into alignment, with the Moon passing between the Earth and the Sun. During a total solar eclipse, the Moon completely covers the visible disk of the Sun for those standing within the path of totality.
For a few extraordinary moments, something normally hidden becomes visible: the Sun's corona- its outer atmosphere appears around the Moon.
I love the symbolism of that because eclipses have a way of revealing what we haven't been able to see before. They interrupt our usual perspective and bring something into our awareness. They invite us to see ourselves, our lives, and what we are creating through a different lens.
This one happens in Leo: the sign ruled by the Sun and connected to the heart, our creative life force, joy, love, passion, play, and authentic expression. So as the Moon and Sun meet in Leo, I invite you to pay attention to what is being illuminated.

New Moon in Leo Solar Eclipse Ritual ~ The Heart of Creation
Eclipses are powerful portals of change and revelation. Rather than setting intentions or trying to direct the energy, use this ritual to listen, receive, and notice what is being illuminated.
Create a Sacred space with a candle, your journal, and anything that connects you to your heart.
1. Return to Your Heart
Place both hands over your heart. Close your eyes and take several slow breaths. Imagine warm golden light within your heart expanding through your body. Simply arrive and become present.
2. Listen + Receive
Ask: What is being illuminated for me now? What is my heart showing me? What am I being invited to see differently? Journal whatever comes through without needing to understand or act on it yet.
3. Pull a Card: If you work with Oracle or Tarot, pull one card and ask: What is asking for my awareness during this eclipse? Notice the first feeling, word, symbol, or message that comes through before reaching for the guidebook.
4. Embody: Place your hands over your heart again and ask: What would it feel like to trust what my heart already knows? Breathe that feeling into your body. Listen. Receive. Allow. Let what is being illuminated reveal itself in its own time. Your heart knows. Give yourself space to hear it.

Illuminate + Receive
Create a warm bath and add:
🌹 Rose petals for love + heart opening
🌿 Rosemary ~ leansing + clarity
🍊 Orange for joy + solar energy
✨ Epsom salt ~ cleansing + grounding
💎 Citrine or Sunstone ~ warmth + creative life force (place beside the bath)
Light a candle and settle into the water. Place your hands over your heart and breathe slowly, allowing the water to hold and soften you.
Ask: What is ready to be illuminated? What is my heart asking me to hear? Cleanse, listen, receive, and allow.
As you finish, say: I trust what is being revealed.
